Summary:
3/29/2007--Introduced.Logan's Law - Requires the head of a federal agency that is carrying out a project involving the construction or modification of a culvert or other enclosed flood or drainage system to ensure that: (1) the system intake is protected by a covering sufficient to ensure that a child may not be swept into the system; (2) a sign warning of the hazard for a child is clearly posted at such intake; and (3) the system has a hinged opening, or other type of opening and closing mechanism, to permit emergency services personnel access.Requires a federal agency providing financial assistance to a state or local government or other entity for a project carried out with federal funds to require compliance with this Act as a condition for the award of such assistance or any letter of intent.

A BILL

To amend title 18, United States Code, with respect to money laundering.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

    This Act may be cited as the ‘Money Laundering Correction Act of 2009’.

SEC. 2. RESPONSE TO CUELLAR CASE.

    Section 1956(a)(2)(B) of title 18, United States Code, is amended--

      (1) by striking ‘is designed in whole or in part’;

      (2) in clause (i), by striking ‘to conceal or disguise’ and inserting ‘conceals or disguises’; and

      (3) in clause (ii), by striking ‘to avoid’ and inserting ‘avoids’.

SEC. 3. RESPONSE TO SANTOS CASE.

    Section 1956(c) of title 18, United States Code, is amended--

      (1) by striking the period at the end of paragraph (8) and inserting ‘; and’

      (2) by adding at the end the following:

      ‘(9) the term ‘proceeds’ means any property derived from or obtained or retained, directly or indirectly, through the commission of a specified unlawful activity, including the gross proceeds of that specified unlawful activity.’.
