We must hasten to designate untouched, pristine tracts as Wilderness before vested interests spoil them forever. Assuming guardianship of the land carries serious responsibility. Only speaking out and using our vote can guarantee that future generations can also enjoy natural treasures.

This was a fairly encompassing bill with many components to study. None of which was included for review. While the comments of Shirtour are very accurate, I wonder what is hidden in this bill which redefines areas already covered in previous legislation. Are there additional lands opened to ranchers, oil and mineral exploitation, lands eliminated from protection etc.? Call me paranoid, but why was this bill introduced?

I agree that we should be taking care of our land and wilderness, but i also agree with GOVWATCHER in questioning other pieces of land and their protection. Are these programs and departments the same ones that don't want to drill for oil in Alaska because of protecting an endangered species?
