dear mr. shuler i would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you, james whiteside from asheville, 53 years old and work in the construction industry, building material supplier, pm hominy 491 af & am, youth league coach, lecture coach. i give you this information just as a overview of myself, i meet and see all people and deal with them equally. as we embark on a new era of history, we are faced with such challenges we may never know again, the people have given and given so much, i don't know what we can give up now, we are asked to dust ourselves off and start over, some of us have done that a long time ago, for instance at work we have cut hours, salary personel have taken pay cuts and even have laid workers off to try and stay above water. this is just a thought -- before we bailout fatcat, mega companies anymore why not let the people attempt to bail themselves out. the population of the united states is a shade under 306 million people--306,000,000 we have given companies in excess of 800,000,000,000 800 billion dollars with apparently no gov't bodies to police this bail out-- why not instead of giving the big companies our money to waste and not know how to spend--send EVERY american with a social security number a check for 1 million dollars, that is already way less than what you would send the companies, tax it, so the gov't will get back nearly 160 million dollars in taxes, let the people pay their mortgages, buy a car, pay their bills and have money in the banks. some may even retire and open up the job markets again, but it would infuse millions of dollars into the economy and everyone could go back to work. i know this is far fetched and won't happen but giving money to these companies is so wrong, at my little company i have had to make concessions with employees just to try and make money and those are hard choices to make. sincerely, james whiteside ps:your ceremony at swain high school was a pleasure to attend
