Guantanamo is not bad. It's concrete and concertina wire. The policies that make Gitmo a hell hole are bad, and those should be changed. REPLY

a prison is a prison, but detaining "enemy combatants" and holding them outside the US so they can be denied basic rights is bad. as long as there's a guantanamo, there's the temptation to do that. shutting it down sends a message that such policies will no longer stand. REPLY

I would have voted "yes" were the reference to the United Nations absent. Enemy combatants, if they have committed actual crimes against another nation, ought to stand trial either in his own nation, or in the nation he has committed crimes against. REPLY
